"Companies that import goods will feel the immediate impact of the peso's depreciation," said Marcus Ang, Managing Director of Cirtec Philippines. "They will struggle to absorb the increased costs, and this will most likely lead to higher prices for consumers."
Food imports, for example, make up nearly 15% of the country's trade deficit, and account for a significant portion of the everyday expenses borne by Filipino consumers. With companies forced to pay more for imports due to the weak peso, the impact on prices is expected to be substantial.

Higher import costs for businesses, however, will have little impact on consumers, where imports account for only around 12% of food expenses. Consumers, on the other hand, are likely to experience costs for their purchase due to higher oil and higher services costs
